Gardencoin Low Voltage Landscape Spotlights

About Low Voltage Landscape Spotlights

1. What are the main uses of low voltage spotlights?

Spotlights create focused beams for uplighting trees, highlighting architectural features, illuminating signs, or accenting garden focal points. Unlike path lights that spread light downward, spotlights project light over longer distances for dramatic effect.

2. What's the difference between your brass and aluminum spotlights?

Brass Spotlights: Solid brass body, superior heat dissipation and corrosion resistance. Best for permanent installations, coastal areas, and customers wanting decades of service.
Aluminum Spotlights: Die-cast aluminum with powder-coated finish, lighter weight and more cost-effective. Great for standard residential accent lighting.

3. What beam angle should I choose?

Narrow (15°–30°): Long throw, intense spotlighting for tall trees or distant features.
Medium (35°–45°): Balanced coverage for shrubs, statues, and medium-height walls.
Wide (60°+): Broader wash effect for wide facades or dense plantings.
Most Gardencoin spotlights ship with adjustable or medium beam angles; contact us for specific beam options.

4. How far can I place spotlights from the transformer?

Low voltage systems experience voltage drop over long runs. For runs over 50 feet, use 12-gauge or thicker wire, or split into multiple shorter runs. For very distant zones, use a multi-tap transformer to boost voltage.

5. Can I mix spotlights and path lights on the same transformer?

Yes. Connect any combination of low voltage fixtures as long as total wattage stays below 80% of transformer capacity. Spotlights typically draw more watts than path lights, so factor them in when sizing your transformer.

6. How do I aim and adjust my spotlights?

Most Gardencoin spotlights feature knuckle joints or swivel mounts for 180°+ vertical adjustment and 360° rotation. Install the fixture, power on at dusk, and fine-tune the angle while observing the effect. Bury the stake 6–8 inches deep for stability.

7. My spotlight is dim or flickering.

Check wattage load: Ensure your transformer isn't overloaded.

Check connections: Loose pierce connectors are the #1 cause of flickering.

Check for voltage drop:
If it's the last fixture on a long run, upgrade wire gauge or add a shorter secondary run.

Check the bulb/socket: Gardencoin spotlights use replaceable MR16 base LED bulbs. Swap with a known working MR16 bulb to isolate the issue.

8. What if I need a brighter bulb or different color temperature?

Contact support@gardencoin.com with your fixture model. We can advise on compatible LED retrofit options. Never exceed the fixture's maximum wattage rating — overheating will damage the housing and void warranty.
