What kind of power cable and transformer should I need?

e.g Suppose there is a set of 4 spotlights (each 3W) and 2 path lights (each 4.5W) that need to be installed in the garden, How do you choose the cable and the transformer?

1. Add the individual light fixture wattages for all lights. 4*3W+2*4.5W=21W

2. The typical distance between two lights is 6-8 feet, but closer or farther is ok too. Based on the above diagram, 6 lights total watts in 0-60 should choose 75-100ft 16AWG power cable.

3. The transformer is large enough to support the Total Fixture Wattage, it should be the best usage within 80 percent of the rated capacity. So in this case a 45W transformer is enough.

Note:

Bulb: In the 1-pack item we include a standard 2700K-5W bulb. Other brass spotlight series use a GU5.3 bi-pin base, you must purchase a matching MR16 bulb separately. For MR16 bulbs, it is important that you choose a pointed bi-pin rather than a flat bi-pin, as flat bi-pins may prevent the bulb from being installed and cause damage to the fixture.

If you need to mount it on a tree trunk or outdoor wall, purchase a mounting plate, 1/2 NPT thread size, and search keywords: Mounting Plate for Landscape Spotlight.

Price: If you buy multiple packs, you will get more discount than single pack.

Projection: Beam angle is not limited by the product, you can choose different angles of the bulb according to different use scenarios.

Working Voltage: The working voltage is 9~17V, so the spotlight usually needs to be connected to a 12V transformer to work properly.

Material Brass

Customers praised these solid brass spotlights for their "premium" heavy-duty construction and elegant gold finish. "Easy to install" on 12V systems, they create "cinematic" lighting effects. Note: MR16 bulbs and wire connectors sold separately. Some concerns: fixtures get very hot during use and feature a single-seal design.

  • The uplighting on my trees and walls looks cinematic. Dramatic. Architectural.
  • The brass finish is stunning. They look so elegant and expensive.
  • If you want the best one I have ever received then this is it.

I Ruined All Other Landscape Lights for Myself – These Are TOO NICE!!

I have officially been ruined for all other landscape lights. Nothing else compares after installing these Gardencoin solid brass spotlights. The moment I picked them up, I laughed—because these things are HEAVY. Like, “oh wow, this is REAL brass” heavy. No plastic. No thin aluminum pretending to be premium. These feel like they were forged for a luxury estate or a five-star resort, not my backyard… yet here they are. Installation on my 12V low-voltage system was stupidly easy, and the fact that the MR16 bulb isn’t included is actually genius. I got to choose exactly the beam spread, brightness, and color temperature I wanted. Once I flipped the switch, I just stood there staring. The uplighting on my trees and walls looks cinematic. Dramatic. Architectural. The kind of lighting that makes neighbors slow down when they drive by. During the day, the brass finish looks rich and classy. At night, these lights transform everything they touch. They hold their aim perfectly, feel completely bombproof, and laugh in the face of rain and weather. These are NOT “replace next year” lights—these are install once and forget they exist because they just work lights. If you’re on the fence, get off it. If you’re comparing options, stop. If you want your yard to look expensive, professional, and ridiculously well-lit, buy these immediately. I’m ordering more because now my yard looks so good the rest of the house needs to step up. Legendary product. Absolute beast of a spotlight. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🔥🔥🔥

Get's very hot!

The lights are overall very nice looking and bright. The primary issue with them is that they get super hot after a few hours of working to the point where you can get burned if you touch them.

The brass finish is stunning

I didn't really realize how different the brass finish would look compared to the darker (also aluminum or brass) uplights in our landscaping. They are really stunning. Rather than to just slot them into the overall lighting design, I put these two lights in places where they are really showcased in the front yard. They look so elegant and expensive. I took a pic of them next to a more bronze fixture and a black one so you can see the difference. This fixture is obviously the one in center. They are heavy and seem to be well constructed with an internal gasket that I don't expect to allow in any moisture. The ground stake was easy to install. It's on par with all the other stakes out there. I always install landscape lighting wires with brass butt joint connectors, sealed with heat shrink, and a bead of silicon to protect the wires from our long rainy season in the Pacific Northwest. The light adjusts easily to adjust and does not include a bulb. I like that, personally because I want all the bulbs to be replaceable and to be able to use the same bulbs in all of the lights in the system for a consistent affect. With the 3000k LED in place, it casts a nice even uplight. This style of lighting is supposed to be turned off after dark during migration season, but that's just a few weeks of the year in Spring and Fall. It provides a great accent through the rest of year, and in particular during our long, dark winters. These lights are great quality, look gorgeous, and function beautifully. The price for two is on par with other products on the market, but for this beautiful set of lights you're getting a value for the price!

Excellent

There are so many outdoor, low voltage lights available but if you want the best one I have ever received then this its it. I have a few that are self contained meaning the led bulb is part of the light and not replaceable. When it dies you throw the light away. I am now only getting lights in which you put your own bulb in. This light is so well made and beautiful. The solid brass housing would be more at home hanging from a chandelier over my dining table. The rotating shade fits very tightly with a silicone gasket that is tight but you are still able to rotate it or take it off with ease. Of course I cannot comment on the light emittance, that depends on the bulb you choose, of course following the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Beautiful color, sturdy, and easy to setup!

I picked these up to add more accent/statement lighting for the trees/gardening around my home and I was really happy with how this product served that role! The build is very premium/sturdy, and holds up well against moisture, abrasions,a and extreme weather (we are deep in summer in Georgia, and it gets very humid with temperatures regularly above 95 degrees). The setup was rather easy; just keep in mind that it doesn't come with its own extension cables, so the power supply is going to be in your court, just be sure to have something long in advance depending where you're setting it up. The light doesn't come with MR16 bulbs (which is fine, and I didn't expect it to), so be sure to grab a pair of those as well before setting up; they're very easy to insert (just plug and play!). Overall, I strongly recommend the product; it looks great and really transforms your home's appearance at night.

No connector provided to connect to landscape wire.

The pair of landscape lights are heavy and solid. It was clear in the description that no bulbs were included. Note also that these come with just bare wire with an image of how you might connect them to your existing landscape lights. They look very good and sized right for my use. Will need to find a suitable electrical connection for outdoor use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Sturdy Brass Outdoor Spotlights

I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality and design of these brass outdoor lighting spotlights. The gold-tone brass finish is stunning, adding a touch of elegance to the landscape. The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, with a solid and tight O-ring that ensures excellent waterproofing—perfect for outdoor use. These spotlights have a good, sturdy weight, which gives me confidence they won’t be easily knocked over or blown away by strong winds. The angling works very well, allowing for precise lighting adjustments to highlight garden features beautifully. One thing to note is that these do not come with bulbs, so you’ll need to purchase those separately. We haven’t hardwired them yet, but once we do, I’ll update this review with more pictures to show how they look in action. Overall, these brass spotlights are a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enhance their outdoor space with durable, stylish, and high-quality landscape lighting. Highly recommend!

Awesome solid metal garden lights with thick ABS spike

Excellent quality, feel, and finish are all solid and they look stylish and durable to boot. They are the perfect blend of metal on top where it matters and ABS where others just corrode. While it is priced below similar lights in the brass/copper class, they are worth it for the features it has. You can use LED or halogen for dimmable or non dimmable 12v landscaping. The bi-pin Gu5.3 bulbs have a groove to be held by this fixture. The cutout around the bulb area makes it simple to change if you need to swap colors or color temps. My function will be for tree, bush/shrub, and wall lights. Water resistance it’s easy, since the body is sealed up by an O ring and you can feel metal on metal sealing due to machining. They function very well from small to bigger landscaping needs. I decided to use the 3000K LED lamps from QQLXST because you can get 12 bright LEDs for $25 and as a direct Halogen 50 watt replacement, it will be super bright, lower load on the 12v transformer and longer life than the hot running halogens. Overall: Awesome garden light of great quality at it makes the landscape feel warm and luxurious.

Gold Tone Brass Spotlights

These gold tone brass spotlights are a much different color fixture than I ordinarily use. Over time they will develop a patina that will make them less shiny which will probably look just fine. The body of this fixture has a twist lock type of connecting its parts that you need to separate to install the bulb. After you twist the shroud including the lens from the base, you are able to install the bulb. However, this also makes it incredibly easy to aim the light to where you want, by aiming the shroud in the direction you want the light to project. This light only has one very thin rubberized silicone band to keep the base and the body of the fixture together. This is a bit concerning since this thin band also serves to make the fixture water tight. The bulb has a clip that keeps it firmly in place. A benefit of buying this fixture without the bulb is that you are able to choose a bulb that gives you your preferred color temperature and beam angle. The knuckle mount for this fixture has standard 1/2” NPS threading so you can pretty much mount this light to anything, and they include a ground stake. At the time I am writing this the set of two is selling for $53.99, or $27.00 each. Being made of brass probably makes the cost justified but I am not sure that these lights will last as long as they should because of the single thin silicone band that keeps the fixture together.

Excellent looking shiny single seal lighting fixtures

Two pack of shiny brass LV outdoor light fixtures, can be purchased with or without bulbs (my preference for customization). I design and install high-end landscape lighting solutions on a part-time basis in retirement and focus on using quality parts for longevity and reliability. These are solidly made with deep socket bases to protect the installed bulbs, has a 3’ pre-stripped and split lead for ease in preparation. The one concern I have with these fixtures is only having a single seal and a very narrow shoulder for the watertight cover. The reality is lawn crews are pretty tough on lighting fixtures and these covers are easily bumped off vs the tight lubricated seals I prefer. Will try these on my personal landscape lighting before using in client applications.

Premium lights make my trees look amazing

Really like the way these look and the brass is heavy duty. Really gives the outdoor lighting a "premium" look. Installation was easy and comparable to other similar products.

Heavy, well built and premium feel

WOW, what a premium looking set of low voltage lamps. First things first - you gotta buy MR16 style bulbs for these. I guess this is so you can swap them out when they inevitably burn out without replacing the whole lamp. You can use any MR16s you want that are 12v. I just got some generics out of my closet that are LED and used them. These things are HEAVY. There is no doubt they will withstand the test of time with the build quality. Push them into the ground, wire them to your normal low voltage cabling and away you go. The glass is clear, the bulbs don't rattle when installed, and the light output is as good as your bulbs can put out.

Welcome back 80's!

Okay, so to be clear these are indeed brassy and honestly out-of-touch with contemporary colour palettes (bronze, black, metallic, etc.). That being said, the build quality of these is solid and they are very well-machined. The fixture is of high-quality and with a standard MR16 bulb they throw light just where you need it. A stake is included and assembly is easy-peasy; the angle is also adjustable, per typical for this type of fixture. I'm hoping they "tone down" a it and oxidize into a warmer patina that looks less like a 1980's office building, but there is nothing to fault here.

Solid, Heavy-Duty Spotlights — Built to Last

These Gardencoon spotlights feel substantial right out of the box — the brass housing isn’t just cosmetic, it’s real metal and has a solid weight to it. I used these to illuminate a tree and a pathway section, and the low-voltage setup worked perfectly with my existing transformer. I appreciated the clean design and adjustable angle, though be aware that bulbs are not included, so factor that in. Easy to install !!! 🟢 Recommended for those wanting a classic, rugged outdoor light fixture that’ll hold up over time.

High quality light

The material and finish on these leads me to believe they will last a long time. Easy to connect and the light output is perfect for up lighting outside our house. I would add more when I have the chance

Great outdoor lighting (but bring your own bulbs)

These spotlights give me sorta an Indiana Jones of outdoor lighting: tough, timeless, and weirdly elegant for something that lives in the dirt. The brass housing looks like it came from a vintage ship, and it should patina nicely over time. Setup's a breeze if you've got your transformer and MR16 bulbs ready to go. Heads adjust easily and stay where you point them. No bulbs included, though. So yeah, this is a bring-your-own-light situation. Pros: – Brass build feels like it could survive an apocalypse (and still look good) – Fully adjustable head gives total control over beam direction – Compatible with whatever flavor MR16 bulb you like: warm, cool, RGB rave mode Cons: – No bulbs included, which feels a bit stingy at this price – The gold tone is classy but may not match everything unless you lean rustic or luxe

Well-made, elegant and attractive accent spot lights

Very sturdy and attractive accent lighting. These brass lights look very elegant right out of the box. They feel heavy-duty and the finish will clearly be long-lasting. They do not weigh much and are easy to place in the ground. I have them ready to set up in my pool area - one facing up into a Japanese maple tree and the other a Cleveland pear. I don't have the wiring done yet, but the lights look beautiful in my pool landscaping. I am hopeful that they will function properly and withstand the elements as advertised, unlike some of the plastic floodlights that have broken and fade only after a few years. These lights feel well-made and the brass is stunning. They are higher priced than those of their plastic counterparts, but will invariably last a lot longer. I will be buying two more to finish out the other two corners of my pool area. When installing, be sure to have the length and proper wiring, as well as the bulbs, as they are not included (and is clearly stated). I believe that these lights will brighten my landscape for years to come.
